ABSTRACT: An Easterly Wave (EW) occurred between 5 and 6 March 2012 in Eastern Northeast Brazil (ENE). This system provided weather conditions for the development of convective clouds (with temperatures of cloud tops reaching 70°C negative) and high pluviometric index (rather atypical situation for this time of year) that resulted in flooding, which were responsible for losses to all society in the state of Alagoas. The 24 hours forecast in advance of the Global Forecast System (GFS) model represented the main fields of atmospheric circulation associated with the EW.
